We're still here!
Well for those of you who have wondered what happened to us after we got here, its a long story. The short version is we had NO idea how complicated it is to get settled into a new country. But life here is awesome. Our jobs are great and living here is more amazing than what we could ever hope for!
To give you a sense of how our day starts, here is a photo tour of our walk to work each day:
This is the view from our kitchen window. You can see the garden gate near the white van. We'll be heading up first to Brian's office which is located beyond the Shrine of the Bab -- one of the 2 holiest spots for the Baha'i Faith.
This is Christine opening the gate
This is a view of the Mediteranean Sea and the city of Haifa.
This may look pretty -- but it's literally a 40 degree angle! As you can imagine we are in pretty good shape after doing this every day for 2 months ; )
Almost at the top, here is the view back towards the sea.
No matter what shape you're in, it always feels great to get to this point near the top!
Here is a view of an upper gate. The building across the street is the International Archives Building where many of the precious relics of the Baha'i Faith are kept.
As we get near Brian's office, the view of the Shrine of the Bab is always breathtaking. It helps to remind us that the work we are doing is primarily one of prayerful service. This makes going to work each day and much more meaningful.
Here is the view up to the top of the mountain. To get to Brian's office, he goes down the stairs at the right and goes to the Visitors Center. His office is literally underground so although he doesn't have a great view during his work day, the trip back home each night is also amazing!
Here are the stairs leading down to his office, the entrance is at the lower right.
Christine then continues through some magnificently cared-for gardens (with some incredible views of significant buildings and monuments of the Baha'i Faith) on the way to her office.
Finally arriving at her job with an awesome view of the sea!
