Next Steps
It's been a while since we updated this blog but we wanted to wait until there was more to say.
Quite a few things have happened since our last post:
1. Shana came home from Swaziland where she was doing a Baha'i year of service at a Baha'i run school. Here are a few photos from her experience:
We're having a great time being with her and she'll be heading off to University of Toronto on Labor Day Weekend.
2. Jordan is here too! He graduated with a Bachelors in Video Production from the University of Buffalo and is heading off to Costa Rica to be a Baha'i service volunteer at the end of August. Here is a photo of Shana and he in Africa:
It is so great to have the whole family here so we can all spend time together before we head off in different directions in less than a month. They'll definately come out to see us in Haifa-and we'll certainly visit them when we can-- but it seems we all know that this is the end of a big chapter in our lives and are taking advantage of getting as much quality time together as possible.
It's a very special time -- very joyful and a bit sad too....
...OK--enough of the emotional stuff.....
3. BIG number 3 -- We sold the house!! We found a wonderful person to buy our home -- his name is Victor Guirma and he's from Burkina Faso. We should be closing in the next few weeks. We were also fortunate in that we know him, he was one of the very first people to see the house and we were able to sell it without a realtor. It's been the easiest sale imaginable. Plus, he has also kindly offered to let us stay in the house until our flight to Israel leaves.
4. Speaking of which, we have confirmed our airline flight to Israel and will be flying out of the country at 10pm September 12th from Newark airport.
5. We are looking for a home for our dog Misty. She's a great dog and we just need to find a great home for her. We'll be posting a photo shortly.
I think that's it for now on news. We just continue to sell, give and pack all of our things away and are constantly amazed at how much stuff we have accumulated over the years. And as each thing leaves the house (in the car of a friend or a garbage bin) we feel so much lighter and less attached to the things of the world. We encourage everyone to go through the excercize -whether you are planning on leaving the country or not. But if you aren't at that point yet, come to our last garage sale (everything must go!!) on September 3rd.
