Baby Turtles

About 2 months ago, while we were out of town, a friend of ours saw a large snapping turtle laying eggs in one of Christine's gardens. Here is the photo he took:

Now, after months of quiet work, Shana found one the the new hatchlings on the driveway, trying to find his way home. After a few minutes of VERY careful digging, we are happy to announce that we have a wonderful 10-member strong family of baby turtles.

We'll have a few hours of bonding time with our new babies and then walk them down to a nearby pond--and a happy reunion with their Mom ; )
